Experience: At least one year of Iyengar Yoga experience (or approved equivalent) is required.
Equipment: You will need to bring a sticky mat, 2 blankets, 2 yoga belts (Pune style belt preferred), 2 blocks and any other yoga props you normally use.
Accommodations: You will have your own private en-suite room (and NO single supplement charge) and you might even get a larger double room if one is available and if you book early.
Clothing/Weather: In addition to bringing yoga clothing for asana classes, please note that the weather on the Aran Islands is quite changeable and can be cool, rainy and windy (temperatures mostly in the 50s and 60s, sometimes reaching the 70s) even during the summer, so layers are highly recommended as are rain jackets or ponchos (umbrellas are pretty useless in the wind). Good walking shoes and boots with good traction are also highly recommended on the terrain.
Travel Insurance: It is advised that you contact your travel agent for cancellation, postponement and interruption travel insurance. Who knows what might happen, but, clearly, it's your decision and your risk.
Currency Adjustment: Due to volatile currency fluctuations, we reserve the right to adjust that portion of the workshop's cost that is payable to our vendors in foreign currency should the currency rate increase 5% above of our original costing. If this adjustment is necessary, we will notify each participant with an amended invoice. (Sorry, this is the only fair way to handle this.)
Dietary Restrictions: Our local vendors will make a reasonable effort to accommodate you - if you tell us beforehand. We can't promise anything except that we will try our best.
Medical Conditions: Because of the nature of the workshop, the topography of the island, and the distances between the various sites we will be utilizing, make sure with your doctor that you are physically able to attend this workshop. There will be lots of walking and if you rent a bicycle plenty of that too! (Remember, the yoga center is about a mile or a mile and a half from the Kilmurvey House.) Inishmòr has medical services available but still, it is a small island. So, please take all of this into consideration before you choose to join us.
Liability Waiver: Sadly, we must ask that you sign one.
Getting there: You will fly into and out of Shannon, the closest international airport to Inishmòr. From there you will exit the terminal, iat the curb and in a short period of time there will be a bus which you can take to Galway. (Taxis are available but are more expensive.) From the bus terminal in Galway it is a very short walk (two blocks) to either the pick-up point for the ferry or the plane (your choice) to Inishmor. From there a bus will take you to either the dock or the air field. Once on Inishmor taxi-vans will be available to transport you to the Kilmurvey House.
Since most international flights arrive in Shannon in the morning you can make it to Kilmurvery House on the same day you arrive. However, on the return, depending upon your flight schedule you might have to overnight either in Galway (where you can tour the town before catching the bus to the airport the next day), at the airport or along the way to the airport.
Bus service to/from Galway:
Boat/Air from Galway to Inishmòr:
Note: If you agree, we will share your e-mail address with the other participants so you might have the opportunity to coordinate travel plans.
